Cacao Trails - Design plan

This redesign of a traditional tropical ranch by Ignacio Platas strikes a balance between modern influences and local vernacular. The great expanse of thatched roof floats atop the efficient structure of identical angled frames. Their expansive slant opens up, reflecting the pitch and stability of the roof they support.

This cost effective building uses a minimum of materials and simple systematic assembly to cover vast spaces quickly. Construction was complete in less than a month.
